Acne Treatments
Acne is a problem for many people, not just teenagers going through puberty. There are many different acne treatments available, although not all of them have any clinically proven effect. Many of the commercially available acne treatments take the form of topical creams, soaps or face wash solutions. Most of these externally applied acne treatments include the ingredient benzoyl peroxide, however this can cause a negative reaction in some people, so it is often wise to consult a doctor before using acne treatments that contain this ingredient.
There are a huge variety of different acne treatments available and the creams and face washes commonly available are just one example. These acne treatments are generally only used for mild or moderate cases. People who are suffering from a more acute case of acne may be able to try stronger types of acne treatments. Some people take antibiotic tablets to help control their acne; there are also a number of hormonal acne treatments available, although these are generally only effective for women.
It is important for people who are afflicted with a very severe case of acne to make use of the best acne treatments available to them as severe untreated acne can cause unsightly acne scarring in later life. There are also a number of holistic acne treatments available, although their effectiveness is not proven.
